Before you begin
Provide an INF file that specifies the Ports device setup class and the Serial function driver as the service for the port. To configure a serial port as COM port, comply with the requirements that are defined in Configuration of COM Ports. IMPORTANT NOTICE: Downloading the latest Driver releases helps resolve driver conflicts and improve your computer’s stability and performance.Updates are recommended for all Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 users. Driver: Windows 10, 32-bit. Windows 10, 64-bit. Windows Server 2019. 2 more: 10.1. Latest: 5/7/2020: Intel® Management Engine Driver for Windows 8.1. and Windows® 10. These devices can also interface to a host using the direct access driver. These drivers are static examples detailed in Application Note 197: The Serial Communications Guide for the CP210x. The CP210x Manufacturing DLL and Runtime DLL have been updated and must be used with v 6.0 and later of the CP210x Windows VCP Driver.
Driver updates for Windows 10, along with many devices, such as network adapters, monitors, printers, and video cards, are automatically downloaded and installed through Windows Update. You probably already have the most recent drivers, but if you'd like to manually update or reinstall a driver, here's how:
Update the device driver
In the search box on the taskbar, enter device manager, then select Device Manager.
Select a category to see names of devices, then right-click (or press and hold) the one you’d like to update.
Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
Select Update Driver.
If Windows doesn't find a new driver, you can try looking for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions.
Reinstall the device driver
In the search box on the taskbar, enter device manager, then select Device Manager.
Right-click (or press and hold) the name of the device, and select Uninstall.
Restart your PC.
Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
